The institution of love is very old; it dates back to the origin of human beings. So it comes as a no surprise that the most sought after genres since the starting of motion pictures is romance and love. A Kiss at Midnight is no exception, it is a simple tale of the victory of love despite many hindrances and blocks. The story is predictable but still very refreshing as after the end it leaves the memories etched in your mind.
This movie has been directed by Bedford May. As said earlier that the general theme is like all the pictures in this genre but it is not that the plot is bland. It springs its own surprises at the right moments and that’s what makes this movie interesting. Also to note that it boasts of some fine acting by all the leading actors which improves the experience and the fun gets doubled.
The story revolves around Susan Flowers (played to perfection by Faith ford), she runs an old fashioned dating agency and takes pride in the work she does. The business is blooming as she has an impeccable record of making all her matched couples reach the altar. The only sad part in her life is that she is approaching 40 and still hasn’t been able to find a perfect guy for herself.
While Josh, has just started moved into the town. He is a widower and has two daughters who are very lonely since the death of their mother and are out looking for a girl who can keep their father and them happy. Oh yes, Josh also runs a dating agency that uses the new age technology by making the computer doing the match making.
Also thrown in the mix are Sherman’s daughters who are looking for a mom, hence they create his profile and put that on the computer. As luck would have it, those two are found be perfect couple. They meet and loves seems to be blossoming but story cannot be that simple now can it? All mayhem breaks loose when they both get to know about each other’s profession, thinking the other is out to destroy other’s business they are now sworn enemies. The end as you might have guessed is predictable. It is a family movie after all!
The acting in the movie is first rate with both the actors in top form. Since the movie has loads of comic capers in the beginning and both of these actors are known for their comedy hence it sets the tone for the later part of the movie. The daughters of Josh played by Jadin Gould and Abigail Mavity also deserve a special mention as they carried a movie on the pivotal points quite admirably.
Over all this movie is a must watch for the people of all ages. It is light hearted and fun. It is one of those romantic movies where you would cry because of laughing!

“I’ll be famous one day, but for now I’m stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons” The story of the dairy of a wimpy kid is very intriguing. It tells you everything about the movie in a nutshell. This movie which is essentially made for kids is very appealing to the psyche to grownups as well. It makes you laugh and along with it teaches you a lot about the internal mind of an average pre teen.
The movie is based on the book written by Jeff Kinney. This hugely popular book is also by the same name. It was so heartening to see that the director Thor Freudenthal didn’t change the script much and the story progresses just like in the book. The movie conserves all the naivet’s and idiosyncrasy of all the characters and thereby promises to be a rocking affair.
The story revolves around Greg Heffley (excellently portrayed by Zachary Gordon); he is normal looking average school kid who is starting with middle school. Once he is in the class he makes a promise to himself that he will break his nerdy image and will become the most popular guy in his class, so that girls will start liking him. He lives with his family that consists of father, mother and a very insane elder brother who keeps him in check with his numerous pranks.
He also has a very close friend Rowley (another brilliant child actor Robert Capron). While Heffley likes the company of Rowley but he shies away from being seen in public with him. His reason is that Rowley is a kid who never grew up from the junior school. Though it is partly true but when it comes to Rowley, he is a kid who does not care much about the onlookers. He does things which appeal to him and always stays happy.
One fine day both of them decide to make a cartoon for the school paper but due to difference of opinion they separate and submit their own cartoons. And Rowley’s cartoon gets selected which leads to breaking of friendship between both of them. Although they miss each other’s company but the gap is too big to bridge with their fragile egos coming in between and eventually they become friends again.
The acting in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid is of the utmost quality as all the child actors do an amazing job of bringing a graphic novel alive on screen. Especially Zachary Gordon, he does a marvelous job of portraying the emotions and complex mind of Heffley. He emote the ideas in his head with precision hence as a result the viewers can laugh their heart out.
All in all, this movie is a must watch for anybody. It is one of those rare movies that get made to entertain the whole family and in the end you are left a nice feeling in your heart that the time was well spent.

Many a times the makers of a film be it comedy or an action movie make the film to reach out to a wide audience but sometimes the target is a specific group of people in the audience as well. There have been many Hollywood movies based on these two genres that have been successful in the past while there have been others as well which have totally flopped. Action comedies provide entertainment to a larger group though this does not mean that the movie will necessarily be a success since there are other ingredients for a successful movie.
Directed by Jorma Taccone and written by Jorma Taccone, Will Forte and John Solomon the movie Macgruber is an American action comedy film which seemed like a hit before it was released. The movie is based on the NBC television series Saturday Night Live sketch Macgruber and it released on May 21, 2010. The movie has been edited by Jamie Gross while Rogue pictures have done the distribution of the film. It should be noted that the TV series was also created by Jorma Taccone.
Macgruber is based on the character of Macgruber, a brave heart having a number of medals under his name and who has also supported a number of ranks. The special operator has fought crime with his bare hands, living the life in a similar way ever since his fiance was killed 10 years ago A nuclear warhead has been stolen by Dieter Von Cunth, his enemy and to catch hold of the enemy and to get the warhead back, he is required by his country. He assembles a team of experts consisting of Lt. Dixon Piper and Vicki St. Elmo and uses his unorthodox methods to solve the serious situation the country is facing.
Will Forte plays the title role of Macgruber while Val Kilmer plays the role of his sworn enemy Dieter Von Cunth. Ryan Phillippe plays the role of Lt. Dixon Piper and Kristen Wiig plays the role of Vicki St. Elmo in his team. WWE wrestlers like Kane, Mark Henry, The Big Show, The Great Khali, M.V.P and Chris Jericho have also played small cameos in the movie. The movie also has Maya Rudolph and Power Boothe in significant roles.
Some scenes of the movie make you feel that too much of an effort has been put in to get the humor and at these places the movie lacks. Certain nude scenes in the movie instead of making you laugh, make you feel embarrassed. The raw treatment which has been given to the script without following any previously traveled paths gets the fun going despite the above factors.
The storyline is regarding a super talented army man who comes out of his shell for his country and like the dialogues which do not have anything new to offer is predictable. The treatment that has been given to the story and the way Forte has acted in the movie makes the movie likable and enjoyable. The movie is an interesting one because of the last two factors.
The movie may not be remembered for long after its release but if you have nothing to do and want to watch a fresh attempt at comedy, Macgrubber will be worth a try. The film is a good experiment and whether it is a hit or flop should not matter much.
